Overall the condition of the marble is very good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are some naturally occurring inclusions to the marble, in particular to the Heron's proper left wing at the joint and the proper right wing to the underside. There is some residue, probably plaster, to the Heron's tail. There are minor chips and abrasions to the edges of the base.
