Bernardo Bellotto

Bernardo Bellotto (1721-1780) was an Italian artist who specialized in cityscapes. The nephew of Canaletto, Bellotto learned from this accomplished vedutisti and became a great talent at a young age, producing views of various Italian cities before spending the rest of his career as court painter for the Kingdom of Poland. Bellotto tended to work on a larger scale than his uncle and his paintings regularly realize over $1 million at auction, a testament to his enduring popularity.
