Condition
The colours are a touch cooler in the original than they appear in the catalogue illustration.
The canvas has been relined.
The paint surface in secure and in fair condition with the details for the architecture, boats, water and the atmosphere of the sky preserved under an even varnish. There are four old discoloured, repaired, unobtrusive damages which are just visible to the naked eye: one in the sky upper left, approx. 5 cm. long; one running through the foreground boats lower centre approx. 9 cm. long; one in the architecture in the centre approx. 2.5 cm long and the fourth on the sky upper left approx. 7 cm. long. Inspection under UV light fluoresces in these areas and reveals some old scattered minor retouchings most notable along the four margins and in the water lower left.
