Exhibition of Highlights from A Living Legacy: Irish Art from the Collection of Brian P. Burns on view in Chicago and Boston

Formed over the course of forty years, the Brian P. Burns Collection is one of the greatest collections of Irish art in private hands. Including artists from the 18th century to the present day, it provides an extraordinary insight into Ireland – its history, its people and its artists. Born out of a profound sense of Brian Burns’ Irish ancestry and his desire to celebrate and promote the achievements of Ireland’s artists, the collection more than exceeds these aims.

Burns’ generosity in loaning the collection to exhibitions in America and Ireland means it has been enjoyed by thousands, creating and inspiring new audiences for Irish art. Sotheby’s are honoured to present 100 works from the collection at auction in November 2018, which will bring the rich legacy of Ireland’s artists to light once again and offers collectors an opportunity to write a new chapter for the artworks within it.
