Biography
Cynthia Houlton holds the position of SVP, Global Head of Demand Generation & Marketplace, Luxury Division, United States. She has developed expertise in marketplace businesses for over 15 years and joined Sotheby’s in 2021 as Global Head of Fashion.
She joined to launch the fashion category at Sotheby’s and successfully grew the auction and fixed price channels concurrently. She also created the Fashion Icons sale series and headlined the first sale with Princess Diana’s original Black Sheep sweater from 1981 that sold for $1.1 million and holds the record for the most expensive piece of clothing of the late former Princess of Wales to sell at auction. In 2024, she moved into her current role and works on scaling demand generation and expanding the marketplace channel for the Luxury Division.
Prior to joining Sotheby’s, she started her career in investment banking and was recognized twice by the Wall Street Journal in its annual “Best on the Street” survey as a senior analyst at RBC Capital Markets. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Wesleyan University.
