Second edition, 4to (187 x 140mm.), title printed in red and black with woodcut printer’s device, contemporary limp vellum, minor worming in text towards end


“Guarneri’s work is a history of the War of Cyprus, and it also celebrates the naval victory of the Battle of Lepanto. He was a canon of the Cathedral of Bergamo and a scholar and writer” (Cyprus and the Levant).


The first edition was published in 1597; this second, posthumous edition appeared in 1602. Both editions are rare, the current one appearing only once in Rare Book Hub (the Panos Gratsos copy).
