FIRST EDITION, folio (365 x 263mm.), hand-coloured lithographed additional title, dedication, list of subscribers, 31 hand-coloured lithographed plates by and after "Miss May", original red morocco gilt, gilt title and gilt design to upper cover, design in blind to lower and upper covers, edges gilt, frontispiece weak along hinge at inner margin, staining to covers, spine faded,head of spine slightly frayed, extremities slightly rubbed


SCARCE. An internally very clean copy of this fine publication with the list of subscribers (of which there were only 75).

The author William May ran the Hope Nurseries at Bedale, Yorkshire, whilst his sister was responsible for the plates, which depict flowers both singly and in groups.
