Mika Rottenberg (Argentina, b. 1976) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intricacies of production and the valuation of labor under capitalism. Her video pieces explore disparate areas of the world, drawing together narratives of global commerce. Set into sculptural installations, these works create a landscape of absurdity that serves to highlight the hazards of our current means of production.

The artist’s recent work addresses the material consumption of her own practice. Lampshare is one of a series of functional sculptures made of reclaimed plastic, which brings the collector into the system of circular production that Rottenberg has established within her studio.

Rottenberg has had recent solo exhibitions at Musée Tinguely, Basel; Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, Canada; Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark; New Museum, New York; MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna, Italy; Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art, London; and Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria. She is the recipient of the Kurt Schwitters Prize and the Smithsonian Art Prize.
