Bruno Gruppalli’s (Argentina, b. 1984) multidisciplinary practice takes many forms, shifting for each project but finding a root in his interests in theater, language, and fiction. His large-scale paintings present anonymous, abstracted figures on bright fields of color, dressed in black with the exception of colorful shoes. Each acts almost like a theatrical character, showcasing moments of individuality within a larger mass of similar figures. At almost human scale, these works create moments of reflection or identification for the viewer.
Gruppalli had his first institutional solo exhibition at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires in 2024. His work was included in group exhibitions across the country and internationally, and is held in the collection of MACRO Museum, Rosario, Argentina, as well as in national and international private collections such as the Diéresis Collection, Guadalajara, Mexico.
