FIRST EDITION, folio (528 x 358mm.), 3 full-page engraved illustrations of inscriptions, and 59 plates numbered I-LVII (plate 1 bound in three sheets), contemporary calf, misspelling of Palmyra (as 'Palymra') on p.1 corrected in pencil, folding panorama torn and worn, damp staining at lower margins on pl. IX, XII, XV, XXIII-XXV, XXXIV and XLIII, damp staining at lower and outer margin affecting engraving on pl. LIII, LVI and LVII, occasional minor soiling and foxing, binding worn, joints weak
