folio (347 x 241mm.), half-title, engraved title-page, text in Spanish and Latin, engraved portrait of Sallust, engraved initials, head- and tailpieces, 9 engraved plates (including a map of North Africa), engraved illustrations, contemporary marbled calf gilt, flat spine gilt with red morocco lettering-piece, gilt edges, head of title-page with paper repair, slight staining on pp.298-299, binding slightly rubbed and scraped, a few small tears on upper joint, corners and ends of spine repaired


A copy of the celebrated Ibarra Sallust, A FINE SPECIMEN OF PRINTING. The translation of the Catiline Conspiracy and the Jugurthine War is attributed to Infante Don Gabriel, though it is more likely to be by Pérez Bayer. The extensive notes also include engraved plates showing specimens of Phoenician, Hebrew and Maltese-Greek alphabets and of coins and weapons.
