Description
Armstrong, Louis
Autograph letter signed ("Satch Armstrong") to Joe Glases, thanking his agent for sending $1,000 while on the road
4 pages (216 x 140 mm), written on the versos of two folded mimeographed sheets with the heading "Pops favorite Dish" with a recipe for Creole red beans and rice, Iowa City, 25 March 1957, to his New York agent and manager, Joe Glaser; with original envelope; old folds, some spotting.
"Just a little note to thank you for the Thousand Bucks ..."
Armstrong explains what he needed the thousand dollars for: "One of my chicks had an awful bad accident. Busted her shoulder all up. So I had to come through with my little part. Then there were a few personal things I had to take care of. ..."
He goes on to some music matters: "Please have the Decca Record people send to me a sample recording of every record that we made during those long sessions. Then I can put them on my tape recorder-keep them with me. And when I get requests for them I will be 'up' on them. And I won't have to go to all the trouble learning them again. 'Savy [sic]?' That's the way they do in the movies ... See to this right away ..." The singer concludes with the affectionate sign off: "Stay happy Daddy."
