2 works in one volume, folio (346 x 217mm.), titles within woodcut border, woodcut initials, woodcut portraits within frames (a few frames empty), old vellum, red edges, lower margin of first title-page excised, a few marginal wormholes towards end, final leaf slightly foxed and creased, some wormholes in spine, binding slightly worn at edges


A record of the portraits assembled by Paolo Giovio (1483-1552), bishop of Como, of literary and military characters. The artist Tobias Stimmer was sent to Como by Pietro Perna to record the collection of portraits before they were dispersed.
