FIVE VOLUMES FROM A LARGE QUR'AN MANUSCRIPT, PROVINCIAL MAMLUK OR ILKHANID, 14TH CENTURY

Arabic manuscripts on paper, each volume with 30-40 leaves, incomplete, five lines per page written in large muhaqqaq script, verses separated with gold rosettes, illuminated fifth and tenth verses markers in margins juz' with opening double page of illumination (damaged), juz' 15 and 22 with opening single page of illumination (damaged), several replacement folios of European watermarked paper, contemporary stamped and tooled brown leather bindings, with flaps
40 by 30cm. approx.

A number of folios are later replacements using European watermarked paper, probably nineteenth century Italian. Among the watermarks are 'Ranie... Bonazzi', 'AC' and a device consisting of two opposing crescents surmounted by three stars within a serrated domed frame.
