A CRISP AND UNTRIMMED COPY of the first illustrated edition of Marliani's survey of the topography, art and architecture of ancient Rome. The fine map, by the writing master Giovanni Battista Palatino, only depicts the monuments still visible while mentioning by name those that were known only from books, rather than providing a complete reconstruction of the ancient city. The map is oriented with east at the top.
