The design of these candelabra refers to the Parisian reputed silversmith, Robert-Joseph Auguste. A pair of candlesticks signed Auguste and made in 1766 is now part of Woburn Abbey collections.
For a pair of two-light candelabra, same pattern, same maker and date, see Sotheby's London, 25 October 1989, nr 174. Interestingly enough, only the candlesticks are by Romer, the branches are by Thomas Heming. Their bases are engraved with Vice Chamberlain 1804 for Lord John Thynne.
