each with a bell-hung pagoda-form cresting atop a Gothick arch and balustraded shelf, the oval plates within a ribbon-tied reeded, scrolled and leaf carved surround with a pagoda niche above and marginal plates with a scrolled-rockwork and foliate carved frame with further pagoda niches to lower corners and aprons, apparently retaining original oil gilding, losses

Almost certainly commissioned by William Clavering Cowper, 2nd Earl Cowper (1709-1764) for Cole Green Park, Hertfordshire;
thence by descent to his grandson, Peter Leopold Louis Francis Nassau Clavering-Cowper, 5th Earl Cowper (1778–1837) and installed at Panshanger House, Hertfordshire;
thence by descent to Francis Thomas de Grey Cowper, 7th Earl Cowper (1834–1905) who died without issue, leaving the Panshanger estate to his niece;
Ethel Anne Priscilla Grenfell (née Fane), Baroness Desborough (1867 – 1952);
thence by descent to the current owner.
