Description
"TOO SHORT DON'T STOP RAPPIN', SINGLES AND ALBUMS AVAILABLE NOW, 75 GIRLS RECORDS AND TAPES". [1985]
Color poster, 24 by 18 in. (61 x 45.7 cm.), in red, black, and white.
POSTER DESIGNED BY TOO $HORT TO PROMOTE BOTH SOLO ALBUM AND HIS OWN RECORD LABEL
The promotional poster offered here is a rare and early artifact from the Bay Area artist before he blew up. In the photo Too $hort can be seen wearing a 75 Girls pendant, as the poster was printed to help market both Don't Stop Rappin' and Too $hort's new record label, 75 Girls Records and Tapes.
Hailing from the Bay Area, Too $hort started his musical career in the mid '80s by producing one-off, by-request-only songs on cassette tape. In 1985, his own Oakland-based record label 75 Girls Records And Tapes released his debut album, Don't Stop Rappin'. The album featured raw and stripped-down drum beats, and was amongst the first Hip Hop records to use the word "bitch", a word that would prove to become Too $hort's trademark.
