Oblong folio (300 x 362mm.), containing 85 gelatin silver print photographs (each 197 x 264mm.), on 50 card mounts, manuscript captions, contemporary dark green morocco, edges gilt, silk endpapers, some fading, upper joint starting, slight wear to binding
This album contains a range of views and architectural interiors, with locations including Malta, Syria, Smyrna, Constantinople, Syracuse, Catania, Messina, Genova, Lugano, Milan, Venice, and Bangalore. The album includes photographs of ruins at Ephesus which can be attributed to Corporal J. Trotman, who was responsible for images in J.T. Wood's Discoveries at Ephesus (1877). It also includes photographs attributable to A.T.W. Penn, who worked as a photographer in India in the 1870s.
