A Fabergé silver canteen, St Petersburg, 1899-1908

in Louis-XVI taste, comprising 48 dinner knives, 48 dinner forks, 24 tablespoons, 24 dessert knives, 24 dessert forks, 24 dessert spoons, 24 demitasse spoons, 6 salt cellars, 6 associated salt spoons, each Fabergé piece engraved with the crowned Cyrillic cypher EN, possibly a dual cypher for Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna and her husband Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark, within an oval reeded border with ribbon ties and surmounted by a bowtied ribbon, surrounded by a laurel wreath, the terminal with acanthus leaves extending to the reverse, the salt cellars with lion paw feet, the upper rim chased with a leaftip border, the interiors gilt, the original fitted case with four trays and applied with a metal plaque on the cover bearing the same cypher, the associated salt spoons with gilt bowls each piece marked either KF or K.
