The Calatrava reference 5000 was introduced in 1992 and remained in production for approximately a decade. Initially launched as a limited series in white gold, the model proved highly successful, leading Patek Philippe to expand production to include yellow and pink gold versions, such as the present watch.
A refined expression of the manufacture's commitment to timeless elegance, the reference 5000 is distinguished by its 33 mm yellow gold case and its striking black dial fitted with applied yellow gold hour markers. Its most distinctive feature is the off-centre subsidiary seconds display positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock, lending the watch an attractive asymmetrical character inspired by certain early Patek Philippe pocket watches.
The model is powered by the automatic calibre 240, featuring the manufacture's renowned ultra-thin micro-rotor architecture. This sophisticated movement enabled Patek Philippe to create an exceptionally slim and elegant case profile, perfectly complementing the restrained aesthetics of the reference.
