The Reference 3960 was designed and produced to commemorate Patek Philippe's 150th anniversary in 1989. The Officier was part of a series of limited-edition watches marking the occasion and represented the first time Patek Philippe created limited-production commemorative wristwatches.
Directly inspired by the elegant wristwatches produced by the manufacture during the 1920s, the reference 3960 features a refined round case with attractive lugs and a hinged officer-style caseback revealing an engraved dust cover. The attention to detail extends to the design of the crown and buckle, both recalling the finest early Patek Philippe wristwatches. The classical appearance is further enhanced by a white dial with applied Breguet numerals and matching Breguet hands.
