A gold, enamel and horn brisé fan, Hanau, circa 1820
the tapering guards decorated with flowers, acorns and geometrical ornaments in bright cloisonné enamel, the base set with a small flower-shaped washer made of turquoise cabochons; the sticks elaborately carved with stylised shell ornaments within a scale pattern ending in polyfoil arches, Hanau town mark, in a later leather retailer’s case stampe: Adler / Genève / Athènes Istanbul
