SMITH NO.3, 2 leaves, 67 pages, folio (c.35 x 23.5cm), engraved throughout, table of songs with advertisement, some later pencil annotations, Dolmetsch library stamp and pencil shelfmark ("II D 19") to reverse of title, unbound, later loose wrapper, traces of translucent adhesive tape to outer leaves, browning to title, wrapper torn


Rinaldo was Handel's first opera in England, premiered at the Queen's Theatre in the Haymarket, 24 February 1711. The present edition is the third of three which appeared in the year of the opera's first performance. It is the first to include the expanded version of "Vo' far guerra" ("...With the Harpsicord Peice Perform'd by Mr Hendel"), on pp.49-52.
