Johann Khorn[e]mann is listed by J. Abeler in Meister der Uhrmacherkunst (1977) as active in Augsburg. At the time of this watch's production, Geneva and Blois were both famous for their decoration of enamel cases and the present watch displays an Augsburgian interpretation of the established styles of those two centres. The scene is taken from Ovid's Mertamorphoses, 11, 578-585.
