Deyan Mihov is a British-Bulgarian artist whose work dissects capitalism, consumerism and the human psyche. Born in post-communist Bulgaria into a family of mathematicians and creatives, his worldview is shaped by both logic and creative flair. Now based in Singapore after spending years in Europe, the United States of America and Asia, Mihov channels various cultural references into compositions that lure audiences in with colours, symbolism and humour. He has presented works in venues such as UBS Bank (Singapore), Hatch Art Project (Singapore), Bulgarian Cultural Institute of London, Chelsea National Army Museum (London) and Sur Le Mur Gallery (Los Angeles, USA), among others.

Carnival—Celebration of Life takes viewers on a transcultural journey through the world’s most spirited festivities—from the opulent masked balls of Venice to the vivid colours of Holi in India, to the vibrant street celebrations in Southeast Asia. Created while Mihov was travelling, the work registers a trace from each destination. They culminate in a layered expression of the full spectrum of human emotions captured during the artist’s travels.
