Between 2010 and 2013, Patek Philippe quietly produced what many collectors regard as the ultimate expression of the Nautilus Reference 5711: a select group of platinum and gem-set references that were never featured in the manufacture’s public catalogue and were offered exclusively to a handful of its most valued clientele. Manufactured in exceedingly small numbers, reputedly fewer than ten examples of each variant, these exceptional watches were distinguished by four bezel executions set with baguette-cut diamonds, sapphires, rubies or emeralds, respectively. Reserved for the brand’s inner circle of connoisseurs, they represent some of the rarest and most elusive modern Nautilus references ever created.

The present watch, Reference 5711/111P-001, is one of the highly coveted sapphire-set versions.
