A late Louis XV gilt-bronze mounted three-piece garniture of Sèvres vases and covers ('vase à monter'), circa 1765-70
green glazed, the domed covers with leaf-cast finials with loop handles and pierced rims on a leaf-cast trumpet base with husk ornament, on a square stepped plinth
central vase 30cm. high, 19cm. wide; 11½in., 7½in.
pair 22cm. high, 14cm. wide; 8¾in., 5½in.
thence by descent to his grand-daughter and heir Mary Constance "Molly" Boynton (d.1890-1974), who married Philip Lloyd-Greame (who took the name Cunliffe-Lister), later 1st Earl of Swinton, and by descent to the Trustees of the Lord Swinton Will Trust.
