silvered dial engraved with foliate scrolls and signed Thomason & Profaze, 25 New Bond St, London, the chain fusee movement with fine turned tapered pillars, maintaining power, ratchet-tooth lever platform escapement with the cut bi-metallic balance, trip repeat striking on a coiled gong, the plain case with bevel-glazed panels, shuttered back, reeded carrying handle and moulded base

Adam Thomson is believed to have established his business at 25 New Bond Street, London circa 1830. In 1860 he was joined in partnership by Joseph Profaze, a German from Baden. Joseph died in 1871 and was succeeded by his son, Joseph Alfred. The business failed in 1888.
