Columbian born Juan Pablo Montoya was introduced to the world of motorsports at an early age by his father, who taught him the basics of go-karting and mentored him in the beginning of his career. Montoya began his career in F300 and Formula One testing in 1997, before making his Formula One debut in 2001. He competed in Formula One until 2006, when he made the switch to compete in the NASCAR circuit. In 2007, Montoya won the Rolex 24 at the Daytona International Speedway, and again in 2008 and 2013. He remains one of only two racecar drivers, alongside Mario Andretti, to achieve victory in Formula One, the Indianapolis 500, and the 24 Hours of Daytona.
In 2004, Juan Pablo Montoya teamed up with Audemars Piguet and launched a limited edition of the famous Royal Oak Offshore the Reference 26030RO.OO.D001IN.01.
Inspired by its namesake icon, the Juan Pablo Montoya Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph was produced in titanium in a limited series of 1000 pieces, and in 18k pink gold in a limited series of 500 pieces, one of which is our present example.
Every millimeter of the Reference 26030RO.OO.D001IN.01 is inspired by motorsports from the eight cylinder head screws, carbon fiber inserts, clutch disk shaped rotor and pedal like pushers. The typical Grand Tappiserie dial features a subtle flag-like motif, a nod to the checkered flag drivers speed past on the finish line. Numbered 432 out of an edition of only 500 pieces, our present timepiece is complete with its full set of accessories, and is the perfect accompaniment to any motorsports enthusiast.
