Hell Creek Formation, Ziebach County, South Dakota, USA

Articulated leg consisting of the femur, the tibia, the fibula, and 3 metatarsals, with additional cast material to properly complete the mount. Leg measures approximately 9 feet 6 inches tall, rising to approximately 10 feet on custom armature. Offered with a cast replica of the proximal end of the femur, to more easily view the bite marks left on the femur from scavenging.

An associated right leg skeleton belonging to a single adult individual, well preserved without distortion. The rich sepia coloration and mineralization of the bones is consistent with fossils originating from the Hell Creek Formation. As the bones were exposed to the surface, there is some restoration to the extremities, including the proximal ends of two of the metatarsals (III) and the fibula, as well as a small portion of the femur, and the tibia. Interestingly, bite marks, likely from scavenging are visible on the head of the femur.
