Description
Ford Madox Hueffer
On Heaven and Poems Written on Active Service. London: John Lane, the Bodley Head, 1918
FIRST EDITION, AUTHOR'S PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED TO EZRA POUND, 8vo, original cloth, lacking dust-jacket, top edge slightly dust-soiled, dampstaining and discolouration to spine
Inscribed: "E[zra]. P[ound]. from F.M.H[ueffer]. 17.4.18". Hueffer, a fellow expatriate, founded The English Review in 1908, which published work by Pound and the two developed a complex, enduring friendship over the next 40 years. We have no record of an inscribed copy of this title at auction since 2013 (The Joseph Conrad Collection from the Library of Stanley J. Seeger, Sotheby's, London, 10 July 2013, lot 188). A very good copy, lacking the dust-jacket.
