Our Arts d'Asie sale in June was a triumph, once again confirming Paris as an important venue and selling location for Asian art in Europe. The auction achieved a total of €13 million, against an estimate of €2.7 to 4 million, with a packed saleroom providing a stage for several dramatic bidding battles.
For the first time, the Arts d'Asie sale at Sotheby’s Paris included a comprehensive selection of Chinese classical and modern paintings and calligraphy from European collections. It fetched a total of €6.5 million, with 94.6% of lots sold and 100% by value. Magnificent imperial porcelains, jades, hardstones and Buddhist art continued to hold considerable appeal for Asian collectors.
Our forthcoming sale will take place in Paris on 15 December 2016.
