The sale concluded with an outstanding total of £2,483,781, well above pre-sale expectations. The auction, which featured fascinating royal and aristocratic heirlooms from the collections of prestigious European dynasties and institutions, generated strong enthusiasm among international collectors and art lovers.
With convincing interest in the decorative arts, the top lot in the sale was a large Maiolica footed dish, attributed to the 'Painter of the Apollo Basin', which sold for £257,000. The artwork, which came from a European private collection had been estimated at £30,000-40,000.

Featuring Old Master paintings and sculpture, furniture, decorative arts and vertu, this sale will again bring to market fascinating property that once belonged to royal and aristocratic European families.
Spearheading the sale are part of the contents formerly at the magnificent Palazzo Sacchetti, the famous Roman Renaissance palazzo built by Antonio da Sangallo (to benefit the Giulio and Giovanna Sacchetti Foundation), combined with property from other distinguished German, English, Dutch, Portuguese and Italian nobility. Also exciting is the property removed from the Bismarck Museum at Schönhausen, including many personal gifts received by Chancellor Bismarck.
