On 9 June, Sotheby’s will present 20th Century Design, featuring masterworks of decorative art and design spanning the last hundred years. We are honored to include in this auction two private collections of iconic French Art Deco Design. The collections include defining works by Jean Dunand, Pierre Chareau, Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann and Paul Dupré-Lafon. Each of the thoughtfully selected works is engaged in dynamic dialogue with its respective collection. Also on offer is a remarkable selection of Scandinavian design from a visionary private collection featuring groundbreaking designs by Hans Wegner and Poul Henningsen. Outside of these extraordinary private collections, the auction is highlighted by other prewar masterworks of American and European origin, midcentury French furniture and contemporary design.
