Our 30 May auction of Impressionist & Modern Art Including Russian Art realized an impressive $4.2 million against a pre-sale high estimate of $4,055,600. Leading the sale was Pierre Bonnard's La Rue, Orgue de Barbarie, shown above, which achieved $293,000, nearly three times its high estimate.
Also performing strongly in the sale was André Brasilier's oil on canvas Cavalcade à Automne, which sold for $140,000 against an estimate of $25,000-35,000. Maurice de Vlaminck's Paysage de Neige sold for $161,000 and Jean Pierre Cassigneul's oil painting La Fauteuil vert, achieved $143,000, both selling far in excess above their high estimates.
