Condition

This work appears to be in generally good overall condition. There is a pin-pointed paint loss by the lower right corner. There are a pale dust traces lower right and two lower left. No traces of retouching appear to be visible under UV light.

“Iniziò con le prigioni. In seguito iniziai a pensare alle prigioni connesse l’una con l’altra. E poi iniziai a pensare che le prigioni erano un po’ ottocentesche, e che avrei dovuto liberarmi delle finestre…quindi divennero celle […]Sento che ogni dipinto è sia autobiografico sia una prospettiva del mondo esterno; ogni dipinto allo stesso tempo è sia un auto-ritratto sia un panorama.” “It started with the prisons. And then I began to think about prisons being connected to each other. And then I began to think that prisons were maybe a bit 19th century, and that I should get rid of the windows…so they became cells […] I do feel that each painting is both autobiographical and a view of the external world; each painting is both a self-portrait and a landscape at the same time.”
