Condition

Of great charm. Shows signs of wear from age and use. Rigging is loose and detached in places. And the painted back board with spotting. The waves appear to have been re-touched and restored.

For another very rare cut-paper model by Walker from 1762 see that in the collection of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London (acc. no. OBJ0532) this example was possibly formerly in the collection of Sir Henry Wellcome (1853-1936). A further model, from the same year, was sold at Christie's, Masters & Makers, 26 June 2013, lot 725.
