The canvas is lined and has slightly flattened the paint surface, which is relatively clean, with only a slightly discoloured varnish. There is a visible horizontal line running the width of the canvas, 7cm. from the upper margin, possibly caused by an old fold. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals two campaigns of scattered retouchings, most notably in the Madonna’s face, throughout Saint Sebastian’s torso, in Saint Francis’ knee, and by the Christ Child’s feet, centre. There are no major damages and the painting is in overall good condition. Offered in a parcel gilt and painted wood frame with some losses.
