Condition

The panel is uncradled, flat and stable. The paint surface is clean and the varnish clear and even. The colours remain bright and well-preserved. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals discreet wash retouching throughout the sky, particularly in the upper half. There are some smaller, more concentrated areas of retouching in the lower half of the sky, the largest of which is a horizontal area measuring 1 by 8 cm., centre left. Only a handful of retouchings are visible within the battle scene, most notably in the torso of the figure in green, lower left, and around the figure in armour on horseback, centre. In overall good condition. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame in very good condition.
