Condition
The copper plate is flat and stable, with some small indentations visible under raking light, upper left. The paint surface is relatively clean and the varnish clear and even. There are some pinprick retouchings, visible to the naked eye, above the uppermost tulip. Inspection under ultraviolet light is impeded by the opaque varnish, but sensitively-executed retouchings are also visible in the rose, lower right, tulip, lower left, in a fine horizontal line, measuring 0.5 cm. in the rose, upper left, and scattered along the left and right margins. None of these is distracting and the painting is in overall good condition. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame in good condition, with some minor losses.
