Condition
The panel is formed of three vertical planks supported by butterfly battens on the reverse, and is flat and stable. The paint surface is dirty and the varnish is discoloured. There are discoloured retouchings visible to the naked eye running along the joins, and scattered through the architecture and the Madonna's blue robe. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms these restorations, and reveals further scattered retouchings throughout from more than one campaign, as well as strengthenings, for instance to the angel's facial features, Elizabeth's halo and the Madonna's hair. In overall fair condition.
