Condition
Unexamined out of frame, the reverse of the canvas is not visible in the current presentation. There is undulation to all four corners. There are some extremely fine areas of craquelure in the red pigment, only visible upon close inspection. There is very faint rubbing at the extreme upper left and upper right corners. There is a faint vertical scuff at the left edge below centre, with a further extremely light and small scuff to the white pigment in the lower third at the centre. There are a small number of accretions in the paint surface and some very light surface dust. Subject to the above the work appears in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals no obvious signs of retouching. The work is held behind glass in a painted wooden frame.
