Condition

Overall very good condition. The sideboard has been sensitively conserved by a professional conservator to ensure the original integrity of the materials has been maintained. When viewed in person, the straw marquetry presents with a beautifully varied palette of ebony, chestnut, amber, blonde, and mahogany hues, imparting the surface of the table with great dynamism and visual interest. The straw surface presents with a soft lustre which is not fully captured in the catalogue illustration. The charming straw motifs accent the strongly linear decoration of the marquetry with some executed with orange straw. The straw marquetry surface with some occasional minor areas where the straw has been sensitively replaced. The marquetry surface with occasional scattered extremely minor surface scratches consistent with age and gentle. The edges of the table top with a few extremely minor and shallow dents and abrasions, only visible upon close inspection. This table is accompanied by a contemporary glass top (not illustrated in the catalogue). A chic and functional low table displaying exceptional coloration to the straw marquetry and elegant proportions.
