拍品資料及來源

Jacob Dirk van Herwerden was a civil servant in the Dutch East Indies from 1831-47. The date on the reverse, which appears to read 1853 or 1856, dates the work to the time after Herwerden returned to the Netherlands and took up painting, based on his earlier studies. The view is towards Mount Semeru, an active volcano and the highest peak in Java.
