The Dazzling Danner Memorial Window: A Tiffany Studios Glass Masterpiece on View at Sotheby’s

New York | 18 November

U ncover the legacy of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s leaded glass windows, first introduced in 1880 and soon celebrated worldwide as symbols of American artistry. Sotheby's presentation captures The Danner Memorial Window as one would have seen it illuminated through natural exterior daylight when it was unveiled in its original church setting in 1913. We are invited to behold the colors and saturation levels of Tiffany's Favrile glass evolve through the course of the day—from the early morning hours of sunrise to the final moments of light at dusk.

T hrough the latest technologies in LED lighting we see this evolution transition over a 3-minute cycle, choreographed alongside projections, designed by Peter Nigrini Design, inspired directly from the window's naturalistic subjects. Here we see The Danner Memorial Window in its full glory—dazzling its viewers as it has since 1913 through the full range of its magnificent glass selection.

The Danner Memorial Window is currently on free and public exhibition at Sotheby's New York galleries, and is a stunning highlight of Sotheby's Modern Evening Sale to be held live on 18 November.
