This July 2023, Sotheby’s is thrilled to offer ten complementary sales during London Masters Week. Highlights include the Old Master & 19th Century Paintings Evening Auction, featuring the exceptionally rare and high-quality panel by the early Netherlandish painter, the Master of the Baroncelli Portraits, one of the most important such paintings to have emerged in recent years. Other key works include a highly significant early depiction of St Sebastian by Rubens, a pair of dazzling Venetian views by Canaletto, a beautiful devotional panel by Domenico Beccafumi, a number of portraits by such notable artists as Velázquez and Jacques-Louis David, and landscapes and interiors by nineteenth-century artists including Vincenzo Cabianca, Frederic, Lord Leighton, and Alexander Stanhope Forbes, as well as the last major satirical painting by Hogarth left in private hands.
Masters Week takes place from 30 June – 7 July at Sotheby’s London.
