Record-Breaking ‘Rembrandt to Richter’ Sale Shows Art Market Remains Strong

Collectors were out in force on Tuesday night for Sotheby’s first-of-its-kind, cross-category ‘Rembrandt to Richter’ Evening Sale’. The 65 lots spanning 500 years of art history realised £150 million, bringing Sotheby’s summer season flagship live sales total to almost $1.1 billion. Bidders from 47 countries took part and the pioneering new live-streamed formatwas watched by over 150,000 viewers.
