S otheby’s is delighted to present Timeless Nature: Property from a Private New York Collection, an impressive array of Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary masterworks as well as defining works by Claude Lalanne, to be sold beginning this fall in The New York Sales and continuing into the spring 2025 season.
Highlighted by Paul Signac’s resplendent 1917 depiction of the French Riviera, Antibes. La Pointe de Bacon, The Modern Evening Auction will also feature a wartime still life painting by Picasso and an elegant depiction of the artist’s wife from 1955, as well as a prime Surrealist oil by Magritte and one of the most acclaimed forms from the artist’s limited sculptural oeuvre. Two unique commissioned works by Claude Lalanne - a 'Hosta et Oiseau' Mirror and 'Végétal' Console - will be the centerpiece of our Important Design auction in December and reflect the artist's deft sculptural hand and mastery of blending natural forms with elegant design.
