Chef Daniel Humm on Collecting & Curating Contemporary Art

New York | 26 September

W hat does it look like when one of the world’s most celebrated chefs steps beyond the kitchen to curate an auction of contemporary art? Three-Michelin-starred restaurateur Daniel Humm, the creative force behind Eleven Madison Park and Clemente Bar, brings his distinctive sensibility to Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated, presented by Velocity Black.

Guided by curiosity, connection, and a love of New York’s art scene, Humm reveals a selection of paintings and sculptures that reflect his personal taste and his belief in collecting as a way of engaging with life.

For over a decade, Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated auctions have invited tastemakers from across culture to shape the conversation in postwar and contemporary art. From Victoria Beckham to Robert Pattinson, Oprah Winfrey to Steve Aoki, each brings a new lens to collecting. Now, Daniel Humm joins their ranks, offering an editorial point of view that blurs the boundaries between culinary artistry and visual art.

Sotheby’s is proud to collaborate with Daniel Humm, the three-Michelin-starred chef and visionary behind Eleven Madison Park and Clemente Bar, for Contemporary Curated, presented by Velocity Black. The auction will place live in New York on 26 September at 13:15 EDT.
